A visit to Greece made me aware of how much marble was being used in buildings and sculptures.  A live model provided the basis for this sculpture of Venus Triumphant when she received the Golden Apple in a beauty contest between the Goddess  Hera, Athena and Venus. Venus won the contest as the "Goddess of Love" is "the most beautiful one" of the attributes of the Goddesses.   A visit to Pompeii, Italy was the genesis of this painting.
